They observe how practical activities, small-group work, and the tutors’ supportive approach deepen learning and foster participation, motivating them to adopt these strategies in their own classrooms. Through Properties, teachers learn how the development of language cuts across traditional subject areas within a material that integrates knowledge from mathematics, science, as well as social and spiritual domains. As a result, they learn to describe reality with clarity and accuracy—an exercise that sharpens observation and language, while fostering truthfulness and precision as moral qualities. Heating and Cooling of Matter guides teachers to think as scientists, understanding systems, processes, and interconnections. The unit does not merely transfer information about physical phenomena but cultivates the habit of inquiry: observing, hypothesizing, and drawing conclusions.

In this first module, teachers are also exposed to an initial discussion of theory and purpose in the text Basic Concepts.
